Further Information:
Ali Baker and his twin brother, Alaa Baker, were indicted by a State Grand Jury on April 28, 2000. The brothers owned a company that was awarded contracts to provide livery service to Medicaid Recipients residing in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The contracts were awarded by the Monmouth County Division of Social Services and funded by Medicaid. The indictment alleges that between January 1994 and February 1996, the brothers defrauded the Medicaid Program of more than $130,000 by inflating trip mileages and submitting bills for services not rendered. In May 2000 the Baker Brothers were arrested in Fairfax County, Virginia. They were released on bail, but failed to appear at their extradition hearing.

Ali and Alaa Baker were born in Kuwait and are of Jordanian descent. They entered the United States with Jordanian Passports and became naturalized citizens in 1992. They resided in Howell Township, New Jersey, before moving to Virginia, in 1996, and have also resided in Louisville, Kentucky. When arrested Ali was residing in Burke, Virginia, and Alaa in Lorton. The brothers have relatives living in all the locations listed above, and are believed to be in the southeast part of the country. Ali Baker was working in real estate, and Alaa Baker in the computer field, at the time of their arrest.
